Fan Your Passion 2010
South Africa will host one of the world's greatest sporting events in only three years' time - the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. For many, enjoying the World Cup first-hand within a stadium is only a dream. However, with the introduction of FanFests to the official World Cup programme, experiencing the World Cup has become a reality for millions.
FanFests are fan parties hosted in close proximity to the football stadia, with live broadcasts, enabling home fans and visitors from around the world to share a unique experience at the FIFA World Cup™. The events also provide cities with a spectacular opportunity to stage powerful programmes with a strong local flavour.
FIFA, together with the South African Organising Committee, will be hosting two FanFests in each of the eight host cities in 2010.
To get the conversation started around the development of 2010 FanFests, three South African agencies presented their visions for local FanFests at the Design Indaba. Enterprise IG, Grid and King James RSVP showed what makes up a South African, how it feels lekker to be a local, and why South Africa should be a dream destination for many more tourists.
